Measuring Student Success

Arlington Heights Elementary subscribes to test
programs and assessments that are required for
public schools in the State of Indiana. Some
testing and assessments are implemented in addition
to state-required tests so that the school can gain
information regarding student progress and needs.
At Arlington, decisions that include instruction for
students and use of some resources are described as
data-driven.
ISTEP+: Standardized testing required by the State
of Indiana in grades 3-6 that includes
English/language arts, mathematics, applied skills
(writing, math) (Fall)
N.W.E.A.: Standardized testing designed by the
Northwest Education Assessment service for grades
2-6 that is offered in a computerized format to test
skills in the areas of reading, mathematics, and
language useage (Fall, Winter, Spring)
Developmental Reading Assessment: Assessment for
students in grades Kdg., 1
Indiana Reading Assessment: Assessment for students
in grades Kdg., 1, and 2
Quarterly assessments will be given to all K-6
students in the areas of reading, mathematics, and
writing (each grading quarter)
TCS: Test of Cognitive Skills given to students in
grades 3 and 6 as an ability measure, used to
support student achievement decisions and placement
in High Ability service programs
