April and May

What's Inside an Egg?

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the school children could not begin
To put poor Humpty together again!

I Won't Hatch
Oh I am a chickie who lives in an egg,
But I will not hatch, I will not hatch.
The hens they all cackle, the roosters all beg,
But I will not hatch, I will not hatch.
For I hear all the talk of pollution and war
As the people all shout and the airplanes roar,
So I'm staying in here where it's sage and it's warm,
And I WILL NOT HATCH!

Where the Sidewalk Ends, by Shel Silverstein

Peck, peck, peck on a warm brown egg.
Out comes a neck. Out comes a leg.
How does a chick who's not been about
discover the trick to get out?
