School/Community Partnerships

Arlington Heights Elementary has several linkages with the community that add to the school's dynamic learning program. Parents serve in the school's Parent-Teacher Organization, on the School Advisory Council, and as sponsonrs and volunteers in a number of school programs. The school has been "adopted" by Ivy Tech and as part of that partnership, we enjoy a work-study student as a technology lab assistant 15 hours each week. Indiana University provides the school with a number of early field experience students and we have several student teachers each semester assigned to classrooms. Our business partner AIT (Agency for Instructional Technology) has been represented on our Advisory Council and has also gifted the school with computers and monitors. Our extra-curricular activities feature the participation of school family members and community members. These include:

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts

Beginning and Continuing Strings Instruction

Spanish Class

Chessmates (chess club)

Mathfax (math problem-solving)
