Arlington Heights serves a k-6 school organization and has a current student population of 317. In addition to fourteen classroom teachers, the school also has 1.5 teachers assigned to inclusion resource support for students identified with learning needs and has certificated teachers for music, art, and physical education
assigned on a .7 weekly schedule. A speech/language teacher, social worker, and librarian also provide services for students and each of these positions is allocated to the school as a half-time post. The Monroe County Community School provides a registered nurse and health assistant. During the 1999-2000 school year, three class-size assistants were provided in grades 4, 5, and 6 on half-day basis and the school was assigned two assistants for inclusion support services in regular classrooms. Non-certified staff members also
included the school's secretary, custodians, kitchen staff, and the extended-day program staff.

Arlington Elementary has a strong commitment to serving the needs of its student population. In addition to our support for students with identified special needs, the school has also encouraged and provided for the education needs of highly able students. During the 1999-2000 school year, seven teachers took part in a series of training for differentiating instruction to serve the needs of diverse learners. The school has offered resources and supplies to support active student learning in all grade levels as well as convocations and
assemblies with a wide range of resource and community presenters. The computer lab and classrooms received new computers and printers during the year and all classes have availed themselves of the opportunity to help students learn and improve technology skills.
